Normative Systems Training

Normative Systems Training is a comprehensive design that addreses one of th 8 Process Points, norms.  During this training participants gain an understanding of the science of norms, how to identify  norms, how to measure norms, and how to change norms.


The first day of Norms training commences with an inpout that addresses such areas as:

1.  A Definition of Norms
2.  Norms Crisis
3.  How Norms Gain Their Strength
4.  How Norms can be Initiated into a Group
5.  Norms and Organizations
6.  The Effect that Management Styles can have on an Organization's Normative Environment

Following this, participants view a film which reinforces the information given during the input.  In order to ensure that all participants have gained the necessary knowledge to successfully participate in the remainder of the training, participants are give a quiz.  In addition to exposing the knowledge that the participants have gained regarding the concepts of norms, they also experience through the quiz the effects of management styles on organizations, and the decision making process.


The second day of Norms Training begins with participants measuring the norms at their organization through a tool called ther GERI Indicator.  Once this is accomplished, participants can identify any specific normative areas that may need to be addressed.  This exposure is a perfect segway for the next input, Strategies for Change.  During this input participants gain an understanding of the 10 Strategies used to Change a Normative Environment.

The remainder of the second day of Norms Training is spent dissecting the strategies for change.  Participants learn the science of the 7 Levels of Confrontation and how to successfully and professionally utilize them.  In addition, participants are exposed to a team meeting format and the problem solving process, two tools help in dealing with here/now issues.

Once participants have successfully completed Group Dynamics Training and Noramtive Systems Training, they have acquired the necessary tools to help students change their behavior from delinquent to pro-social and develop life skills.
